Our Recommended Financial Websites
We don't know everything. That much we do know. To keep in touch with the financial, investment and stock market worlds, we use other online properties. Here are some that we recommend highly with short descriptions to explain why...
Investment Websites
Berkshire Hathaway
is the name of the company owned by Warren Buffett. Each year he writes an annual 'shareholder letter' in which he explains all sorts of things investment and financially related. They are all insightful and excellent reading. The link above goes straight to the letters. Sage of Omaha - need we say more? The UK is lucky to have the
Investors Chronicle
which is a weekly magazine given over to assessing and analysing quoted companies. The publication has been running for over 150 years! Highly recommended. The new wave of financial analysis comes from independent newsletter writers.
FinancialSense
is home to a great many of these writers. Each one is writing for the fame (or infamy) and fortune that may come their way, but there are always insightful and interesting opinions to be found. Many of the writers have an interest in 'hard money' and it's relationship to inflation and sound government. Another site focused on gold, silver and other commodities - also full of independent contributions - is
Kitco
. The site has always been annoyingly busy, but if you can overlook the design problems, there are lots of nuggets to be found. (No apologies for the pun...) Focused solely on silver is
SilverInvestor
by David Morgan. Your author has never been a subscriber so cannot vouch for the newsletter. However, his writing is often to be found on the above sites and generally has much to offer. When it comes to the big boys of financial publishing, these don't need any introductions:
Morningstar
Bloomberg
Reuters
The Financial Times
The Wall Street Journal
Business Websites
There are a few locations online that standout for the quality - and quantity - of their reporting of the financial and business world. Again, these really don't need any introductions:
CNN Business Section
BBC Business Section
BusinessWeek
Other Publications To Investigate
A publication with a little less Wall Street cred is
Vanity Fair
. But that seems unfair. While the magazine covers a wide array of subjects including society and fashion, since the credit crisis of 2008 it has really distinguished itself as having high quality business and financial journalism. Well worth a read for many reasons. On a similar note, but with a higher financial reputation is
The Economist
which it hopefully goes without saying, ought to be a regular read for any thinking humanoid. Lastly - and we apologise to any that have been missed - is the
International Herald Tribune
or IHT for short. Again, highly recommended if you want an American but international slant on things.
